NYX Cosmetics understands that beauty lovers want a lightweight yet strong coverage concealer product. The brand introduced a product that claims to do that and more with its Bare With Me Concealer Serum ($11 USD).
This concealer is infused with tremella mushroom, cica, and green tea (that’s the “serum” part), and is said to cover dark circles, acne and last week’s sins all while providing a “skin like feel”. But does it deliver on it’s claims?

The Bare With Me Concealer Serum is “made for your under-eye, face, and body; covering dark circles, redness, acne and dry patches”. It is also “Infused with skin-loving ingredients including tremella mushroom, cica, and green tea for up to 24 hours of ultra hydration for skin that feels moisturized all day”.

NYX Bare With Me Concealer Serum in 09 Deep Golden Review
NYX Cosmetics is one of my favorite drugstore brands. They really seem to understand what beauty lovers want, and are constantly coming out with new & exciting products.
I grabbed the Bare With Me Concealer Serum from Ulta Beauty.
Right off bat I was impressed with the packaging. I really like the easy to use mini pump, it definitely reminds me of a serum.
Another feature that impressed me was the formula and how well it plays with other products. I cycle through different types of foundations, tinted SPFs, and other complexion products.
The Bare With Me Concealer Serum works well with higher coverage foundations (like the NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation), as well as lighter tinted products like the L’Oreal True Match Tinted Serum.

Can a Serum Concealer be Medium Coverage?
I would consider the coverage to be light to medium, but buildable. One pump of the concealer covers both my undereye are and the additional places I like to use concealer to highlight. Usually that’s my forehead, above my lip, and below my lip.
NYX claims that one pump will give you medium coverage, and I would say one pump is enough coverage if you don’t have dark circles, acne marks, or body marks to cover. But if you do, then a second layer builds seamlessly.
If you don’t have under-eye creasing (unfortunately I do), then you may not need to set this product.
I set the concealer lightly with a translucent pressed powder and I’m done for the day. I literally don’t have to touch my face for the entire (8+ hours) day. [For reference I consider my skin type to be Oily/Combination]
The finish is natural and not too dewy or too matte.
I enjoy almost everything about this NYX concealer. It’s easy to use, its buildable, lasts all day and feels like on the skin.
What’s not to like about the NYX Bare With Me Serum Concealer?
This is a nice concealer product that I use regularly. I would even re-purchase the product, if they offered more shades and undertones.
13 shades is a good start, and the shade range is pretty even across tones. However, there aren’t enough shades or undertones for me to purchase again.
The shade I chose is close to my skin tone, but not the tone I would need for body marks or scar cover up.
In fact, this limited shade range wouldn’t work for ALOT of people if they were looking for a product that can be used for the face AND body.
Another miss for me is the term “serum”.
I know brands will use this term loosely now that skincare is big business for the makeup industry. However, there isn’t really any serum type benefit in this product.
I don’t think most beauty lovers know what “tremella mushroom” or “cica” is, and green tea has been marketed in cleansers and facial masks, not so much as serum.
Do these products do anything for the skin?

Overall, the NYX Cosmetics Bare With Me Serum Concealer is a nice product.
It will be a GREAT product if there were more shades and undertones for face and body coverage.
Also, its nice to have serum like ingredients in makeup, but only if they add value in finish or visible results.
You will like this product if:
- You like light but buildable coverage concealers
- You’re looking for a good concealer to pair with sheer to light coverage face products
- Hydrating concealers are your jam!
You will not like this product if:
- You are looking for a high coverage concealer
- You’re looking to cover serious body marks
