ToggleOnce upon a time, Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer was THEE concealer to have.
But, times have changed and beauty lovers have way more to choose from.
You can find concealer in not just full coverage, but all types of coverage including a medium coverage radiant concealer…from Tarte!
It’s still one of the beauty products people talk about and their new launch, the Radiant Medium Coverage Concealer ($31) is being talked about too (especially by big tiktokers).

Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Medium Coverage Concealer in 53S (Deep Sand) Review
I’m a fan of Tarte Shape Tape concealer in general. I even reviewed the concealer years ago on this blog!
Read: Tarte Shape Tape Concealer Review & Swatches (Tan and Deep)
So I had high expectations for the new Radiant formula concealer.
I still use full-coverage concealer, but I gravitate towards medium coverage for everyday use and for no-makeup makeup days.
The Radiant Shape Tape Concealer ($31) is very light weight on application.
I don’t ever “feel” like I’m wearing concealer throughout the day. The wearability is great for days when I want to wear just concealer and powder.
I’m also shocked that Tarte was able to formulate a concealer that doesn’t dry down quickly. You have A LOT of time to blend your under-eye area.
This is great for beauties who like to apply cream products, and then blend everything together.
Also, you can visibly see a brightening effect from the concealer even before blending which I love!
The formula is infused with hydrating ingredients, making it a great choice for those with dry skin type…and everyone else too!
Shape Tape Radiant doesn’t cling to any spots or creases (like fine lines), and wears for about 8 hours.
Tarte does claim that the concealers is “crease proof” for 12 hours, and that’s partially true for me.
I don’t notice any creasing all day, however I do notice the coverage starts to dull after 8 hours.
When it comes to the formula, Shape Tape Radiant is really nice.
The Shape Tape shades don’t match across products
I decided to re-purchase the original Shape Tape, and try Shape Tape Ultra Creamy along with the new Radiant Shape Tape.
It was a difficult finding my shade match!
Mostly because Tarte has expanded their shade range (that’s a great thing!).
Another thing on shade matches.
I chose the same shade (53S) in Shape Tape Ultra Creamy, and Shape Tape Radiant.
However, its obvious (from the swatch pictures above) that these concealers are two different shades.
This can be a problem for beauties who already have a favorite shade in the original Shape Tape or Shape Tape Creamy.
I completely understand that Tarte is evolving as a brand and may not be able to keep all shades consistent across concealer lines.
But, it would help to provide a chart (or something more than just the model photos) so beauties have an idea of what shade would match.
Some brands (Fenty Beauty, Rare Beauty, etc.) publish a comparison/conversion chart when shade numbers change or don’t match across products. I LOVE THAT!
The concealer coverage is barely medium
Like I mentioned before, I have been using medium coverage concealers a lot more. Shape Tape Radiant is medium coverage, but barely. It’s more like light-medium coverage…and it’s not buildable.
I really like that this concealer doesn’t dry down fast, so you have time to apply other products then blend.
But, the downside to that is adding more concealer (then blending) doesn’t seem to increase the coverage.
If you like to apply just a little bit of concealer, this product is great for that. But you wont get a full-coverage look like you can from Tarte’s OG Shape Tape.
This can be a negative for beauties looking to cover the look of dark circles or uneven skin tone. Don’t worry though, the original formula Tarte Shape Tape is still a great concealer for that too!
This concealer is right on trend (for now)
Overall, the Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Concealer has some really great features. Its lightweight, hydrating, and easy to work with for a natural finish yet radiant undereye area.
Despite some of the downsides, this concealer is right on trend with what makeup lovers are looking for (right now).
It’s all about concealers that are easy to use, hydrating, and give “your skin but better” coverage.
Tarte has given makeup lovers what they asked for in that regard.
But, for me this concealer is just good.
I still prefer the original Tarte Shape Tape over the new Shape Tape Radiant Concealer.
If you still LOVE the original Shape Tape Concealer, I would skip this product.
If you LOVE the Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer (that’s me, it’s my favorite! I think that formula is one of the best concealers), then I would skip this product as well.
But, no matter which formula you choose, Tarte Shape Tape (all of their formulas) are still great makeup products and I enjoy using them all!
