NYX says this 3-in-1 primer-sunscreen hybrid ($14) does it all—blurs imperfections, grips makeup for 18-hour wear, and protects skin with SPF 30. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, and infused with coconut juice + cactus flower extract. No white cast. No greasy mess. Supposedly undetectable on multiple skin tones.
Sounds like a dream, right? Almost had me.
I was really impressed with this product at first use, but I feel differently now.

It’s Smooth, Sweet and Pink
Right out the gate, NYX Blur Screen SPF 30 Primer ($14) feels like skincare heaven. Thin, silky texture. Slightly pink tint (don’t worry—it blends out invisible). And the scent is light, fresh, and a little tropical thanks to the coconut juice + cactus flower combo.
The application is smooth and blends like a dream. It doesn’t leave any white cast, which is always a major win for melanin-rich skin. But the more I used it… the more the magic wore off.
Honestly, I’ve been using the Blur Screen off and on for a few weeks and…its fallen from grace a bit.
Hi, is Blur home?
I keep knocking, but Blur isn’t answering.
Despite the name, I didn’t see much of a blur effect. You can still see my pores and texture, and by hour 5, my combo skin had that mid-day dewiness (aka shine) creeping in.
Even layered under makeup, it didn’t give that soft-focus, blurred-out finish I was hoping for—and definitely didn’t extend wear time.
First impressions can be deceiving
At first swipe, I was impressed. No white cast, lightweight texture, non-greasy feel—check, check, check.
But the big promises (blurring and 18-hour makeup wear)? They didn’t deliver.
I even paired it with NYX’s Blur Foundation (which I don’t love, read that review here), hoping they’d work better together.
While it did help the foundation look less cakey, it didn’t exactly transform the finish.
So yeah. it’s good but not a miracle worker.

It’s a toss-up
If you have oily or combo skin, you might not get much out of the NYX BlurScreen SPF Primer. The SPF protection is solid, but the actual priming performance falls flat.
If you’re normal to dry, this could be your new fave—it hydrates, layers beautifully, and feels featherlight. It also won’t clog things up or leave you feeling greasy.
It’s one of those products that almost made it to holy grail status for me: the feel, the finish, the no-sunscreen-scent vibes… all excellent. But it doesn’t hold up on wear time or blur.
So would I recommend it? Yes—but with a big ol’ asterisk.
Product Review Bottom Line
You’ll love this if:
- You want a 2-in-1 SPF + primer
- You have normal or dry skin
- You’re big on hydration and hate greasy sunscreen
- You’re over white cast drama
You might skip it if:
- You need real blurring (not just in the name)
- You want your makeup to last more than 5–6 hours
- You have oily or combo skin that needs grip
