The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum ($30) is not only on brand but also right on trend, with beauty lovers wanting lighter coverage makeup products that result in a “your skin but better” look.

IT Cosmetics Describes the Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum as “A concealer and serum that provides instant medium coverage and clinically fades the look of dark spots and other skin texture concerns over time*”. (*Based on a 12-week clinical study)

This concealer is well formulated with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid.  Beauties who are looking for a concealer that is light (to medium) coverage, and easy to blend will enjoy this product. But, I have more thoughts on the product below.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum Review (in shade Rich Warm 51)

My first impression of the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum ($30) was that I really liked the doe-foot applicator and the product texture is creamy and soft.

IT Cosmetics suggests that you use the “kabuki concealer brush” side of the concealer to blend in the product.  I tried the brush end for blending a few times, but I don’t like it.

The concept is a great… to apply and blend all in one quick step? sounds innovative!

However, the brush bristles are too short and dense for my application preference. So, I opted to blend the Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer with the Sephora Collection PRO Concealer Brush.

Note: Blending this product in with a beauty sponge works well, but because of the concealer’s lightweight texture, you may lose some coverage/opacity.

Is Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum really lightweight AND creamy?

I really enjoy Bye Bye Dark Spots’ creamy texture. It’s easy to blend and you can let it sit on the skin for quite a while, without it drying down.

Also, setting the concealer  with a loose powder or “baking” works beautifully.

The silky texture plays well with every powder product I’ve used with it.  My undereyes never look dry, or cakey and the medium coverage lasts all day for me (8+ hours).

The It Cosmetics Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum mostly does what it claims to do, except it’s not that buildable

I would consider this concealer a light to medium coverage, but it doesn’t seem to build up to full coverage with an additional layer.

So the creamy, easy to blend, lightweight texture is a win for this product.

But, what if you have dark spots?

This concealer will cover your dark spots better than a light coverage concealer or cc cream (like the CC+ Cream Full-Coverage Foundation with SPF 50+, one of the brands most famous products).

But, if you have really dark circles or are looking for high coverage, this concealer won’t give that.

It’s creamy texture is truly light to medium; light coverage if you apply just a few dots of concealer, and medium if you apply the concealer in longer strokes under your eyes (this is how I apply all of my concealer products).

Speaking of creamy, this concealer did crease on me, but that is expected that due to the creamy silky texture.

If you don’t have problems with creasing the lovely texture will work well for you. However, if you have a lot of fine lines, I would pass on this concealer.

Is the Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum really a serum?

The Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum is hydrating and feels light on the skin. In that way, it does remind me of a serum.

However, I haven’t used the product for 12 weeks where results showed fading “of dark spots, fine lines, dark circles under eyes and uneven skin texture”, according to IT Cosmetics.

The serum qualities of this product feel like a marketing tactic to highlight the ingredients, but I like the ingredients so I’m ok with that.

I rarely use one concealer consistently over 3 months, so I don’t expect to see the results that IT Cosmetics claims.

Final Thoughts on the Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer

This is a good product.

I tend to set my under eyes well, and when I use a powder brush to gently blend in the slight creases, the coverage and finish returns back to seamless.

The shade for me is another plus.

Although IT Cosmetics doesn’t have the best shade range, they are improving as a brand, and they ARE one of the few makeup brands that cater to my dark neutral undertone.

However, the shade that I received, Rich Warm 51, is not a warm undertone in my opinion.  The shade appears more neutral in swatches and on my skin. The brand pictures however, do look warm.

Be careful when looking at brand pictures online.  In general, IT Cosmetics shade pull more neutral than described.

For me, that tends to be a good thing, but it can be frustrating for others.

Overall, I still like the IT Cosmetics Dark Spots Concealer

I find myself reaching for it alot because of the texture, tone and how well the product pairs with my powder products.  I probably won’t re-purchase it, but I will enjoy using it while I have it.

You will like this product if:

  • You are looking for a creamy texture concealer
  • Lightweight concealers are your favorite
  • You like concealers that can be blended in multiple ways (fingers, sponge, brush, etc.)

You may not like this product if:

  • You have fine lines that tend to crease
  • You have a warm undertone (the warm shade I received is more neutral than warm)
  • You like buildable coverage concealers (this is light to medium but won’t build to full coverage)
