Charlotte Tilbury Sephora Birthday Gift – Flawless Look Birthday Set Review

I purchased all three of the VIB/Rouge exclusive Charlotte Tilbury birthday gift products to review.  Is this the best Sephora birthday gift option? Let’s find out.

 

This is the 3rd Charlotte Tilbury Gift in 4 years.

I was excited about this birthday gift option, until I remembered that just two years ago, in 2022, a very similar VIB/Rouge exclusive birthday gift was offered.

In fact, that gift featured a Pillow Talk Push-up Lashes Mascara mini, Pillow Talk Lipstick (Original shade) mini, and a Magic Cream Moisturizer foil packet sample.

In 2020, Sephora also offered a Charlotte Tilbury birthday gift which included: Jewel Lips Lip Gloss – Pillow Talk (discontinued), and a mini sample (not foil packet) of the Magic Cream Moisturizer (7 ml).

I expected the VIB/Rouge gift to be new and interesting, but instead we got a version of the same thing from 2 years ago.

Last years’ option from Patrick Ta felt exciting! It’s a newer brand that is always trending on social media, and for good reason since they have great products.

By contrast, this year’s Charlotte Tilbury birthday gift option is familiar and easily attainable in other ways (subscriptions, Sephora favorites sets, the brand itself).

 

What’s in the 2024 Charlotte Tilbury Sephora Birthday Gift Set?

The Charlotte Tilbury “Flawless Look Birthday Set” includes a sample size of the:

• Magic Cream Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid (0.03 oz / 1 ml) – $1.95 value

These Charlotte Tilbury products are good but they’re not must haves.

The Flawless Look Birthday Set is the highest value of all 2024 Sephora Birthday Gift options at $22.90 USD.

This is a good gift option if you love Charlotte Tilbury, and regularly use their products.

A mini lipstick and travel size setting spray are both great for travel or for your makeup bag.

But, just because you’re VIB or Rouge, doesn’t mean you have to choose this option.

I really think the best gift option is the Kosas Lip & Brow Birthday Set.

Kosas is a newer, popular brand, that has great products…and this gift option doesn’t include a foil packet (value $19.80 USD).

 

Matte Revolution Lipstick in shade Pillow Talk Quick Review

The matte lipstick in Pillow Talk is pretty close to a “universal” shade, and the formula is semi-matte but comfortable with a short wear time (2-4 hours).

The Pillow Talk lipsticks don’t stain the lips or dry down like a typical matte lipstick, so you have to reapply throughout the day.

But I do think the shade is pretty and the formula would be liked by most makeup lovers.

On darker skin like mine (Fenty 420, Maybelline 355), the shade works but its best paired with a slightly darker lip liner.

Note: The Pillow Talk lipstick shade does appear lighter on the lips than it does in the tube (on my skin).

 

Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray Quick Review

The Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray is the best part of this gift set, because makeup lovers of all skin types can get use out of it.

The spray has a micro fine mist that sets makeup beautifully without a harsh matte finish.

So it’s a good setting spray that sets the skin, but doesn’t modify the makeup underneath (no added dew or matte effect).

But, I never notice an airbrush effect to my makeup after using this spray.

I think the finish gives like a softness to my makeup, but it’s not something that I couldn’t find from a drugstore (or less expensive) product.

It lasts just as long as a good drugstore setting spray too.

I’m smooth and shine free for about 8 hours, but not 16 hours as advertised.

So other than the name it doesn’t justify $38 USD (for the full size spray).

 

Magic Cream Moisturizer Quick Review

Ugh, a foil packet.

Although I purchased a mini Magic Cream Moisturizer for review ($30 USD/0.05 oz), Sephora Beauty Insiders will receive a foil packet sample if they choose this gift option. 

It can be hard to get products out of foil packets, they are a pain to secure/close (when there is product left), and they don’t feel high end enough for VIB & Rouge customers.

If Sephora would have taken the foil packet and turned it into a small sample, it really would have elevated the whole birthday gift set, and made it better than the 2022 Charlotte Tilbury Birthday Gift.

I’ve been using the travel size version of the Magic Cream Moisturizer and, it’s super hydrating.

This product is wonderful to use at night or during the day, if you have “normal” skin type.

If you have combination or oily skin, I would suggest that you use it as a night cream.

It’s non greasy but, when I wear this moisturizer during the day, I’m GLOWY by like 3pm.

Some beauties will like that effect, and some wont.

For me, I am happy to have that extra hydration overnight but not as much during the day.

Is it worth the hype? Yes.

It’s a really beautiful moisturizer that does what it says, but its expensive and there are less expensive moisturizers with similar effects.

 

Long story long…

Many VIB and Rouge customers are familiar with Charlotte Tilbury products, and likely come across these samples in other sales, kits and subscriptions.

So, the products in the “Flawless Look Birthday Set” isn’t new or exciting but the products are good and it’s a good option overall.

It’s also the highest value at $22.90 USD (for now, Sephora will likely add more birthday gift options throughout the year).
