I’m the type of girl who packs a makeup bag like I’m preparing for the Hunger Games.

Whether I’m headed to brunch, the airport, or just to the grocery store—if it’s summer, my purse is stacked with survival tools. And yes, I keep the same types of products in every bag I own. (Work bag? Purse? Travel tote? Yup—stocked.)

Why? Because I refuse to be caught outside with dry lips, musty pits, or a face that looks like I’ve been in the sun for 10 rounds.

Here’s everything I keep packed for Hot Girl Summer—makeup bag essentials that are always with me, no matter where I go.

Stay Cool or Die Trying

One word: fan.

This is a new essential for me, and now I can’t go back.

The portable mini fan in my bag is a lifesaver when you’re melting outdoors or trapped in a hot Uber with no airflow.

Hot tip: use fragrance samples from Sephora or Ulta and stash them in your purses. That way, you’re not worried if they get lost or forgotten—and you still smell delicious.

• A mini deodorant is a must. Especially for July and August. Full stop.
• A sunscreen spray that you can mist over your face, body, or makeup—because reapplying SPF shouldn’t feel like a chore
• A travel-size fragrance or mini vial so I always smell like a fresh-out-the-shower goddess—even if I’ve been running errands all day

 

Hair & Sun Accessories

As a natural hair girly, I know the struggle of thinking your leave-out will stay in place… and then the humidity says, “absolutely not.” That’s why I always carry:

• A headband, in case I need a cute save
• A scrunchie or hair tie to throw it up and keep it pushing
• A comb to smooth things out real quick
• Oversized sunglasses, because you never know when your eyes will start watering, you’re sweating through your edges, or you just need a moment of mystery
