The L’Oreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Peel is such a unique product for the drugstore market.

It combines what we love about high-end skincare brands with a more reasonable price point.

The peel/treatment formula includes AHA, BHA, and PHA in a beautiful turquoise color that has a slight shimmer to it.

L’Oreal as usual is setting the bar for drugstore skincare brands with this unique peel product.

Product Description:

The L’Oreal Paris Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel ($24.99) is “your gentle exfoliating solution with exfoliating strength equivalent to 1 professional peel. It reduces post-acne marks, renews tone and texture, and brightens. Dermatologist-validated, suitable for sensitive skin, and made for all skin tones”. (description taken from ultabeauty.com)

LOreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel Key Benefits

THIS is what I call user-friendly!

This product is super unique for the drugstore.

Beauty lovers don’t have a lot of exfoliating peels to choose from at the drugstore.

You can find similar products from affordable brands like The Ordinary their very popular exfoliating peel solution ($9.50) that went viral years ago on TikTok.

There’s also CosRx (another affordable brand) who sells a similar exfoliating peel ($19) which is popular among skincare lovers.

The key difference between L’Oreal’s Peel and others is not just the price.

It’s the fact that L’Oreal provides specific instructions on how to use the peel, and it being “safe for sensitive skin”.

Social media has continued to make skincare products go viral.

But often the viral products are NOT good for skincare newbies, sensitive skin, or those who aren’t well educated on skincare formulations (me, I’m referring to me lol).

L’Oreal is specific about how you should use their exfoliating peel and the results you should see, making it more user friendly than other “affordable” peels.

LOreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel Face Swatches

L’Oreal made this peel shimmer so we don’t burn our faces off

The Bright Reveal Dark Spot Peel itself is a greenish turquoise color that has a soft shimmer to it.

This is genius L’Oreal.

I can tell where I’ve placed the product, and where product is still on my face due to this beautiful shimmer.

This is a great “safety” feature.

We don’t need beauties burning their faces off, although some might try that for the views (egad!).

A little goes a long way with this treatment

I’ve been using this peel for a few weeks and I still feel like I’ve barely used it at all.

Although you get just shy of an ounce at 0.85 oz.  A little goes a long way!

About 2 finger lines (my skincare babes will understand that highly scientific measurement) will spread across your entire face.

L’Oreal’s Bright Reveal Dark Spot Peel is $24.99.  This price is higher than what you can find from The Ordinary or CosRX but again, its easy to use.

Application is easy with the squeeze tip applicator, the directions are specific so you wont burn your face off, and the results are there in just one use!

LOreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel Results After 1 Use

Is the term “peel” just for marketing?

The Bright Reveal Peel is really a chemical exfoliation treatment.

The term peel makes the product seem more high end and may appeal to beauties that are used to using products like the Dr.Dennis Gross Peel Pads.

Don’t get me wrong, you can feel the tingle from this peel on application.

In fact, every time I use Bright Reveal, I feel a tingle.  But that sensation goes away after a few minutes (treatment time is 10 minutes).

If you’re a chemical exfoliation lover, this wont feel nearly as stingy as what you have likely used in the past.

The results?

After just 1 use, my skin felt smooth and so soft.

Does it mimic the results of a facial? No.

There’s a lot that goes into a facial.  The cleansing, extracting, dermaplaning, exfoliation, etc. pretty much guarantees a baby smooth result.

Bright Reveal does a great job at smoothing the skin, but not on the level of a professional facial.

After 2-3 applications, I could tell my dark spots had improved by a lot.

The spots were lighter (one spot’s top layer even “flaked off” the next morning), my skin looked more even, and after EVERY treatment my skin was very smooth.

LOreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel Review Overview

Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Maybe.

L’Oreal says the peel can be usable for sensitive skin.

My suggestion?

If you are a younger skin care lover, new to skin care or don’t use acids (AHA, BHA, PHA, etc.), I would say use this once a week and slowly work your way up.

I don’t know that I would feel safe recommending it for sensitive skin as a blanket statement, especially sensitive skin that has never used active acids before.

But for skincare enthusiasts, beauties that love facials, or other popular chemical peels.  You will like this.

It’s what I would consider a maintenance dose peel (I made that phrase up just now)…something to use maybe once a week (after the first month of treatments) to keep your skin smooth and get that resurfaced finish.

L’Oreal wants you to only use this product.

L’Oreal says you shouldn’t use other acids and exfoliating products while using Bright Reveal.

This may turn some beauty lovers off, and I was even annoyed after a while because I wanted to use other products I love.

The exfoliation from Bright Reveal is effective.

It exfoliated the skin, and gives you all these great benefits, but it is hard for me to take out other acids in my skin care routine.

Skincare brands are “actives” obsessed, including AHAs and other exfoliants in toners, serums, and pretty much everything, even in small amounts.

I literally had to change my skincare routine while using this product, and there’s no way I’m doing that long term.

The bottom line: It’s a great product, with a few buts.

The L’Oreal Bright Reveal Peel is an effective chemical exfoliant, which is unique for a drugstore brand but requires your undivided attention and may not be for skincare newbies.

You will like this product if:

  • You like exfoliating peels and acid peels and you want to do it from home.
  • If you’re looking for a reasonably priced product that gives you smooth skin and one result.

You may not like this product if:

  • Are new to skin care and new to acids
  • If you have a tried & true skincare routine that you aren’t ready to pause
